Last Friday evening, Kayla + I set out for a golden hour portrait session in Matthews, NC. Autumn evenings are my absolute favorite for photography sessions; their crisp air + vivid colors are magical!
In my neighborhood, there is a tree-lined mini greenway dotted with wildflowers. I have intended to shoot a session there for a while! I love the ethereal element that the yellow flowers lend to Kayla’s portraits.
We played with some backlighting as the setting sun shot its warm beams through the trees. I love this lighting’s dramatic effect on my subject!
The leaves are taking their sweet time to transition from green to varying shades yellow, orange, and red this season. I love the way Kayla’s burgundy sweater pops against the stubborn green foliage!
After this portrait session, I’ll definitely be having sessions on this little greenway in the future! This quarter-mile trail provides a nice selection of backgrounds.
