On a beautiful June evening, I hosted Twilight Magic -a summer styled shoot featuring bright yellow, crispy black, and touches of gold.
A styled shoot is a collective effort by a team of creatives to create a conceptual photoshoot. Styled shoots are a fantastic way to connect with industry professionals and create beautiful, valuable marketing material for every brand involved!
This entire concept for this summer styled shoot was inspired by wild black-eyed Susans that decorate Charlotte greenways in the summer. I wanted to use the shoot to explore the dynamic, magical light during twilight. To me, the bright yellow of the petals combined with the dark center of the flower encapsulate feel of summer! My two jewelry designers provided beautiful handmade pieces to compliment my concept.
Skilled makeup artist Jennifer L. worked with my model, Kaitlyn, on-location and created a look that was the perfect blend of both natural and dramatic.
I hosted the shoot at McAlpine Creek Park in Matthews, NC. My original concept included a nearby greenway; however, I discovered (to my horror) a few hours before the shoot that the greenway was covered in erosion control barriers due to recent flooding!
During my last-minute location scouting, I was pleased to find that McAlpine Park had a plethora wild black-eyed Susans and lush greenery for backdrops. Crisis averted!
This summer styled shoot was the first time I worked with Kaitlyn, the model. She did a fabulous job posing and highlighting all the products; I really enjoyed working with her!
As golden hour faded into blue hour, the light grew softer and softer.
My friend Sivi came along to assist and get creative with me!
