Instagram can be an effective tool for making connections, finding opportunities, and reaching your target audience. However, it can be difficult to reach your account’s full potential without a practical strategy! For the month of September, I’ll be showing you 4 ways you can upgrade your Instagram. This week, let’s talk about the first nine.

The “first nine” are the first three rows that appear on the home page of your personal instagram feed. These nine images change with every photo that you post!

The first nine should always show who you are and what you do. Your brand has a unique story, and your audience should be able to get the gist of it in a glance! To do this, all you need is to a little time every week to create a posting schedule and line up your week of Instagram posts.
For example, my brand is focused on personal branding, brand imagery, and portraiture. I take time once a week to plan out my posts -usually Saturday morning with a fresh cup of coffee. My goal is to represent those three services and include at least one image of myself every week.

As you can see in the screencap of my first nine above, personal branding is represented twice, product photography/brand imagery is displayed three times, portraits are shown twice, and there are two images of myself.
Curating those three rows with continuously with intention may sound difficult, but it is doable! A helpful tool for planning and scheduling Instagram posts is http://planoly.com; you can draft your nine and verify that the photos make sense for your brand and look attractive together.

One of the ways you can maximize your Instagram feed’s impact via your first nine is by using custom personal brand imagery. These images are created to match your established brand (vibe, color, everything!), appeal to your target audience, and make caption-writing easy. When you streamline your social media post workflow, you have more time to focus on the rest of your brand!
