At the end of January, I teamed up with model Kaela Coopwood and photographer Kristina Kay to create Dark Romance, a styled portrait shoot.
Kristina Kay, the owner of Lake Norman Boudoir, kindly hosted the shoot in her beautiful new studio space in downtown Mooresville.

What is a styled shoot anyway?
A styled shoot is a collective effort by a team of creatives to create a conceptual photoshoot -in this case, a sultry, moody portrait session. Styled shoots are a fantastic way to connect with industry professionals and create beautiful, valuable marketing material for every brand involved.
Dark Romance included four distinct looks and setups. The photo shoot lasted about 2 hours, during which I shot 800+ frames!

We started the shoot with Kaela dressed in a completely black outfit accented by delicate gold jewelry, surrounded by plants -the idea that inspired the entire shoot!

Our second setup features a dramatic Victorian mustard couch and the most colorful outfit Kaela brought. I love the visual pop of the cobalt blue pants next to the muted yellow!

The third setup (my favorite) reminds me of the iconic Phantom of the Opera scene in which the Phantom takes Christine underneath the opera house. The flowing white gown and candelabra are perfectly paired for this midnight rendezvous look.

For final set, we stepped into the boudoir realm. The velvet shirt Kaela brought was the perfect choice for these cozy, authentic intimate portraits.

Kristina was kind enough to capture some BTS shots of me doing my thing. The shots below were shot by her and edited by me!

I’m so thankful for the opportunity to work with Kaela in the Lake Norman Boudoir studio! This shoot came together beautifully and was a joy from start to finish.
