Vintage Styled Shoot // Main Squeeze

In late February on a sunny Saturday morning, I hosted a vintage 50s styled shoot with a lemon tea party theme. This idea was inspired by my antique-loving mother-in-law, Beth, and her vintage-styled dining room -complete with antique furniture, dishes, and glassware.

A styled shoot is a collective effort by a team of creatives to create a conceptual photoshoot -in this case, a bright and cheerful 50s tea party. Styled shoots are a fantastic way to connect with industry professionals and create beautiful, valuable marketing material for every brand involved.

The afternoon before the shoot day, I arrived to Beth’s home with arms full of fresh flowers and lemons. Together we decorated her dining room and created a tablescape to match the photo shoot theme.

I’m glad we created the tablescape the evening before! This way, I was able to arrive Saturday morning full to the brim with creative energy.

The beautiful cake was created by Baked Well, a family-owned local bakery, especially for this shoot! The hand-painted fondant lemons are my favorite detail.

The hair and makeup artist, Carly of Bel Fiore Beauty, arrived Saturday morning at 8:15 on the dot and got right to work! Beth’s light-filled office was quickly transformed into a beauty room. Carly expertly transformed my model, Kayla, into a polished 50’s housewife.

We began our photo shoot at 10 am in the dining room, brightly lit by delicious sunbeams streaming in through the large windows.

Before the shoot, I gathered an assortment of themed accessories. Just by styling and re-styling with my accessory collection, we were able to create three distinct looks without my model changing her dress!

By the time we had thoroughly used the indoor space, it was warm enough to step outside. I captured a few backlit shots in front of a tree in the backyard. The vintage sunnies and lemon print scarf I found were perfect for the new setting!

We ended the vintage styled shoot on the porch, adding two bouquets of cheerful daffodils provided by our model.
