On a bright Sunday morning in July, I met model Kaela C. in downtown Monroe for a creative, collaborative photowalk.

This sleepy little downtown offers so much variety in backgrounds! When I do a photo walk, I like to choose areas with both photogenic urban and natural spaces to utilize.

Downtown Monroe is full of visually-interesting buildings to use as a backdrop! I really enjoy shooting wide portraits with interesting environmental framing when I have the opportunity.

This charming little tree-lined walkway provided both pleasing leading lines and dreamy lighting.

Much to my delight, we came upon a row of blooming crepe myrtle trees! These trees look like they were pulled right out of a Dr. Seuss book. These flowers are the best thing about summer in the Carolinas.

It was hard to tear myself away from this bloom-filled spot, but eventually we returned to the sidewalks to continue exploring the downtown area.

I love collaborating with Kaela whenever we both have the time! She is a joy to work with and I am always pleased with the art that we create when we team up.
