In early August, I hosted “Sweet Peach,” an upscale picnic styled shoot inspired by Carolina summers and all their colorful offerings.
A styled shoot is a collective effort by a team of creatives to create a conceptual photoshoot -in this case, an upscale garden picnic. Styled shoots are a fantastic way to connect with other industry professionals and create beautiful, valuable marketing material for every brand involved.
Sweet Peach was set at the Vanlandingham Estate, a Charlotte wedding venue. Though the house is newly-renovated and absolutely lovely, we chose to hold the shoot in the garden to fit the shoot theme.
To make sure this colorful summer daydream came to life beautifully, I assembled a team of fellow creative entrepreneurs. I like to choose creatives that I know will take my vision and make it their own! I typically provide an inspiration board and color palette, then let them do what they do best.
Kristen of Vintage Soul Floral Design, Sarah of Sarah Duckworth Events, and Nikki of Best Impressions Catering worked together to create this colorful tablescape set for two!
The shoot primarily took place in the garden behind the Vanlandingham house. The little brick path and natural arch provided a lovely backdrop and visually-pleasing leading lines.
Our second set was this adorable little drink station beside the Vanlandingham greenhouse!
The sun was in the perfect spot! We got soft and pretty golden hour backlighting.
Kristen (Vintage Soul Floral Design) tucked her metal arch into the natural arch in the hedges, then adorned it with eucalyptus, roses, straw flowers, and more!
While Kaela and I worked at the arch, my vendor team put together a lovely bonus setup inside the greenhouse! Darkness fell quickly, but I used the opportunity to play with my lighting kit. The images below have a totally different feel!
Styled shoots like Sweet Peach are a lot of work to organize and execute; there are weeks of preparation, a full day of shooting, and then weeks of editing! All the time, energy, and money is worth it to see these beautiful visions come to life in front of my lens.
