In late September, I hosted Love Spell, an enchanted, dramatic boudoir styled shoot inspired by amethyst crystals and spooky season! The shoot was held at the Lake Norman Boudoir studio in downtown Mooresville.
In the shot above, peep me doing my thing in the mirror! Thanks to Kristina (Lake Norman Boudoir) for this BTS image.
I couldn’t let another Halloween slip by without a styled shoot fit for spooky season.
A styled shoot is a collective effort by a team of creatives to create a conceptual photoshoot -in this case, a witchy boudoir shoot fit for the Halloween season. Styled shoots are a fantastic way to connect with other industry professionals and create beautiful, valuable marketing material for every brand involved.
In the beginning, I imagined this shoot to be small and simple -a partnership between Kristina (Lake Norman Boudoir) and I. I imagined we would collect some props and forage some foliage and dry it ourselves. When I shared by vision with Kristen (florist, owner of Vintage Soul Floral Design), she volunteered to do florals and set design. Our shoot was so much better for it! Not only did she create elaborate sets for use to use, she also handmade a floral crown and a feather fan for the shoot!
The shoot lasted about three hours from start to finish. We had four distinct, staged setups and four outfits!
Kristina (Lake Norman Boudoir) built the triangle arbor, and then Vintage Soul Floral Design went to town!
We utilized the first arbor setup with the second outfit before moving on.
It’s amazing to me how quickly a simple concept became so elaborate and beautiful! I couldn’t have created anything close to this without my amazing creative team. They each went above and beyond!
