In September 2021, I teamed up with local model Kaela and Jillian Marie Beauty to make my editorial styled shoot vision, Space Girl, come to life.

My primary goal was to create a set of images that is very different from my normal portrait and branding work. I wanted to lean into bold posing, funky styling, and a little bit of edge (to keep things interesting).
Camp North End, the Charlotte industrial park-turned-retail-hotspot, was the perfect location for my editorial styled shoot vision. With brightly-colored seating and art installations around every corner, I knew we wouldn’t need to work hard to find great photo shoot backdrops.

This shoot was originally scheduled for October 2020! However, in true 2020 fashion, issue after issue prevented us from shooting our concept. This shoot was worth the wait!
This concrete spot is tucked away by a Camp North End road. It may not look like much, but all the interesting texture and abstract-feeling rust splotches made it a perfect back drop.
These two bold, eye-catching Shy Siren rings were perfect for this concept! Shy Siren pieces photograph really well, and I’m always glad to include this local brand’s pieces whenever I can.

This colorful tiny house by Boileryard parking was the bread and butter of our shoot! This wall had exactly the right blend of whimsy and weird for the Space Girl concept.

The vintage campers on Camp North End’s main drag are very spaceship-like, especially the silver ones! The reflective surfaces presented some interesting challenges, including being aware of where my own reflection was relative to Kaela.

I couldn’t have made this styled shoot happen without each and every person on my amazing vendor team!
