My big 2022 spring project is this styled boudoir photo shoot with Charlotte, NC model Niki C. I held the session in the Lake Norman Boudoir studio in downtown Mooresville.

This shoot was originally scheduled to occur back in spring 2021, but had to be postponed due to scheduling conflicts. I was so glad to FINALLY get to meet Niki in-person and create some photographic art together as a team!
This styled boudoir shoot included three distinct concepts.
Setup One: bold, celestial goddess with warm neutral tones
Setup Two: simple bedroom setup with luxurious robe
Setup Three: peachy pink tones paired with lush greenery
Some shoots push me more than others, and this was a tough one! It was a very overcast, stormy day that we shot this set, which significantlly limited the ambient light. I was challenged technically in new ways! I utilized reflectors and a supplemental video light to have adequate lighting to shoot these.
Setup One
For the first setup, my goal was to explore dramatic poses in a space with a warm, neutral color palette. Niki flowed and moved through bold full body posing with very little direction or adjustment.

We moved towards the back of the Lake Norman Boudoir studio next. There, Niki donned this dramatic pair of wings! I had her pose in front of a plain black wall so the bright white wings would stand out.

The white stairs and railing increased Niki’s posing options by quite a bit! I know from experience that having something to interact with (hold, lean against, pull away from, etc) is very helpful for models’ posing flow.

Setup Two
Our second concept was clean and simplistic. We utilized the pre-made bedroom setup in the studio where Niki posed in a dramatic and frilly blue robe.

Setup Three
The third setup I created for this styled boudoir shoot was a playful, lush design featuring blush shades and vibrant green houseplants. Along with a selection of props, I incorporated a portion of my personal houseplant collection as well!

This set was primarily inspired by my love for pairing peachy tones with emerald greens! I think they are a beautiful color combination.

It was such a pleasure to collaborate with Niki C on this creative styled boudoir shoot. She is a joy to have on set and I hope we can work together again!
