In the last few days of July 2022, I hosted “Ephemera,” an editorial boudoir styled shoot at the Lake Norman Boudoir photography studio.

“What is a styled shoot?”
A styled shoot is a collective effort by a team of creatives to create a conceptual photo shoot. Styled shoots like this editorial boudoir photo session, “Ephemera,” are a fantastic way to connect with other industry professionals and create beautiful, valuable marketing material for every brand involved.
My primary vision for this editorial boudoir shoot is the concept for Setup One. Setup Two and Three utilized sets already assembled at the Lake Norman Boudoir Studio -I just added a few touches for my own flair!
Setup One
My goal was to create a set that was both dreamy and ethereal yet bold and dramatic. I used holographic elements to add both eye-catching contrast and punches of concentrated color.

Alyssa is a very talented professional model based in North Carolina. She excels in full-body, bold posing and is very enjoyable to work with! This is my fourth project with her, and I hope for more opportunities to partner with her in the coming years.

Using a prism and fractals, I created dreamy in-camera effects and distortions (as shown in the images below). Scroll down to the BTS imagery to see what I was doing!

Charlotte jewelry designer Sara of Shy Siren provided all the jewelry for this shoot. Sara is one of my favorite local vendors to work with! Her bold, sparkly pieces photograph beautifully, and she is always fantastic to have on my team.

My friend and studio owner Kristina was kind enough to capture some behind-the-scenes images! It’s such a treat to have images of me at work.

In the two images below, you can see the sub-framing technique I use to add ethereal reflections and interesting distortion in-camera!

Sara, the jewelry designer behind Shy Siren, hung out on set a while and captured some BTS video for us! Though we have worked together a number of times, she hasn’t been on set for a styled shoot with me before. I was so happy to have her there!

Setup Two
The second set was a Lake Norman Boudoir setup that I added star lights to.

Setup Three
This third set was a Lake Norman Boudoir setup that I styled with spring grass and pampas grass -that’s all it needed!

This was the last shoot I held at Kristina’s Lake Norman Boudoir photography studio in downtown Mooresville before it closed. I’ll greatly miss shooting in that gorgeous studio space!
